Description

Step inside "The Wrong Shop" art gallery: a sharp selection of exclusive posters that will appeal to fans of graphic and visual arts! Created by English designer Sebastian Wrong, the brand publishes drawings and prints by influential artists, designers and architects. These exceptional-quality limited, numbered edition prints are truly unique and affordable works of art. The Crayfish and Elephant posters are designed by Nathalie Du Pasquier. They feature abstract geometric shapes combined with bold, distinctive hues. “What’s interesting for me is the strangeness of a form that exists but that we don’t recognise, whether painted or reproduced in three dimensions. ” In these sculptural assemblages with their cubist echoes, volumes, colours and shapes respond to each other. Nathalie du Pasquier is a painter, graphic artist and designer. In the 1980s, this famous visual artist was one of the founding members of the Memphis group, which formed around the iconic Ettore Sottsas. During these years, she designed numerous textiles, rugs, objects and items of furniture, as well as motifs for the furniture of other designers in the group. From her travels in Africa and Asia, which she undertook at the end of the 1970s, this striking style resulted which would permeate the Memphis creations. When the group dissolved in 1987, she returned to her first medium, painting. We immediately recognise Nathalie Du Pasquier's style: an explosive, harmonious mix of exuberant patterns and vibrant colours. A world that evokes travel, African waxes with a quirky rock touch.

Our Stylist Says

I really like this poster, especially for its bold use of colour and graphic simplicity. It works particularly well in contemporary or eclectic interiors where it can act as a statement piece. Its vibrant hues and structured design lend themselves to modern living rooms, home offices or even bedroom walls that need a pop of colour. For styling, consider pairing it with minimalist furniture or neutral backgrounds to allow the artwork to stand out. Framing it in a sleek wooden or black frame can enhance its modern appeal, and it’s versatile enough to be mixed with other abstract or graphic art. Because of its size, it’s best placed in spaces that can give it room to breathe - a large wall in a living area or above a sideboard works nicely.
