GUBI is delighted to present a new, portable edition of the renowned Multi-Lite lamp, originally designed in 1972 by Louis Weisdorf, Danish designer and architect. Vintage and elegant, with its superimposed simple, architectural forms, Multi-Lite is typical of lights from the golden age of Danish design. Multi-Lite is endowed with remarkable functionality. Framed by a ring, the mobile lampshade changes shape and allows a multitude of different lighting options. The central part of the lampshade is fixed: it consists of two nested cylinders that contain the light source. Around the cylinders, the outer cupola consists of two half-spheres which pivot from top to bottom. These two mobile parts can be moved independently of one another to obtain a multitude of configurations. In this way, you can direct the light downward (direct lighting) or upward (indirect lighting), or create a beautiful asymmetrical light effect. GUBI worked closely with the Weisdorf family to develop a portable version which integrates all of the versatility of Multi-Lite into a more compact form. The signature ring around the lampshade acts as a handle. The two small discs on either side of the ring act as a dimmer, in this version. With three settings, you can adjust Multi-Lite's brightness to suit your moods and needs. The mobile lampshades have been carefully designed to be gently adjusted with a single hand. Two diffusers in the upper section of the lamp prevent glare, creating a gorgeous glow of indirect light. The Multi-Lite portable lamp has been designed and certified for outdoor use, preferably in dry weather conditions (splash-resistant). The ideal addition to al fresco evenings. The lamp must be charged and stored indoors when not in use.
This gold metal outdoor lamp is a fantastic blend of retro design and contemporary functionality, making it a versatile addition for both classic and modern interiors. I love how its sculptural form brings a sculptural statement to any space, especially in outdoor settings like patios or garden areas. Its rechargeable feature and wireless design mean you can easily position it where needed without fuss, adding ambient lighting while maintaining a clean aesthetic. Styling tips include pairing it with minimalist furniture to highlight its clean lines, or using it as a statement piece in eclectic or mid-century-inspired schemes. Given its bold shape and finish, it works well when paired with natural textures or muted palettes, ensuring it remains a focal point without overwhelming the space.
