With its superimposed simple, architectural forms, Multi-Lite is typical of lights from the golden age of Danish design. Vintage and refined, this metal pendant is a reissue of the model designed in 1972 by Louis Weisdorf, a Danish designer and architect. Multi-Lite is endowed with remarkable functionality. Framed by a ring, the mobile lampshade changes shape and allows a multitude of different lighting options. The central part of the lampshade is fixed: it consists of two nested cylinders that contain the light source. Around the cylinders, the outer cupola consists of two half-spheres which pivot from top to bottom. These two mobile parts can be moved independently of one another to obtain a multitude of configurations. In this way, you can direct the light downward (direct lighting) or upward (indirect lighting), or create a beautiful asymmetrical light effect.
I love this pendant for its versatile and modern design, which blends a retro-modern appeal with contemporary functionality. Its modular and orientable features allow for customisation, making it ideal for both statement kitchen islands and stylish dining spaces. The black finish adds a sleek, minimal vibe that works well in monochrome or monochromatic interiors, but it can also serve as a striking contrast in lighter colour schemes. Practical styling tips include grouping multiple units over a breakfast bar or suspending a trio at different heights to create visual interest. Its adaptable nature means it’s equally fitting in both residential and commercial interiors, especially when a nod to 70s design is desired without sacrificing modernity.
