Description

Design. Rustic and contemporary, the Modi Extending Dining Table has a bold and charming look through a reclaimed wooden top, featuring its own natural knots and grain, and black legs with elegant brass caps. Featuring a base this is both tapered and splayed, the Modi adds an elegant air to any home and is ideal for dining or large kitchen areas. Perfect for a range of spaces, the Modi has a wonderfully extending feature, making room for all the family and unexpected visitors.

Our Stylist Says

The Modi dining table is a great choice for those wanting a blend of rustic charm and modern edge. The reclaimed wood top adds warmth and texture, making it perfect for contemporary, industrial, or even farmhouse-inspired interiors. Its extendable design offers flexibility for larger gatherings, while the dark wood paired with matte black legs adds a sleek, understated style. For styling, consider pairing it with bench seating or a mix of upholstered chairs for a relaxed yet polished look. Keep accessories minimal on the table to highlight its natural materials, and consider adding a statement pendant or layered lighting overhead to elevate the overall setting. It’s both functional and versatile, making it suitable for a variety of interior themes.

About Barker and Stonehouse

Founded in 1946, Barker and Stonehouse offer a diverse range of stylish and timeless pieces. From contemporary to traditional designs, Barker and Stonehouse brings sophistication and comfort to every room.

A Remarkable Journey

Born from the vision of two young RAF men, Charles Barker and Alex Stonehouse, Barker and Stonehouse emerged as a beacon of hope, infusing post-war Britain with a hint of glamour. Starting from a single store in Stockton on Tees, their entrepreneurial spirit led to rapid expansion, opening multiple stores across the region.

Their fast growth was fueled not only by their flair for business but also by their dedication to innovation. The business transformed over the years, adapting to the changing landscapes of retail, all while preserving its charm and values. By 2021, they marked an impressive 75 years in the industry, a testament to their enduring commitment to quality and customer service.

Sustainability at the Forefront

From the very start, Barker and Stonehouse has held a deep commitment to the environment. This devotion was showcased through initiatives such as the Trees4Trees Project, a reforestation effort in Indonesia.

Ensuring that for every tree used in their products, more than two were replanted, nearly 1.5 million trees have been restored under this initiative.

Their Knaresborough store, one of the greenest retail stores in the UK, further underscores their dedication to sustainable practices. As a cherry on top, by 2021, the company achieved the status of "Carbon Neutral Plus", making them a trailblazer in the furniture industry.

Innovative Spaces and Expanding Horizons

Over the decades, Barker and Stonehouse didn't just expand in number, but in the quality and innovation of their spaces. From opening their iconic store in Battersea, London, which beautifully preserved the characteristics of an old candle factory, to their latest state-of-the-art Gateshead store in 2023, every location tells a story.

They have also ventured into digital realms, ensuring a vast online presence and offering a wide range of products to customers all over the UK. Their partnerships, like the one with Fenwick in 2021, illustrate their adaptability and constant quest to reach new audiences.
