Description

Design. Beautifully crafted from reclaimed wood, the Modi wardrobe is rich with mid-century modern style. The natural tones and markings of the timber are enhanced by a rustic saddle tan finish, which is perfectly complemented by warm brass handles and legs. Offering plentiful storage space inside, it features a full hanging rail and two handy drawers. Simple in shape, but suitably stunning, it can be paired with the coordinating bedroom furniture for a cohesive look.

Our Stylist Says

The Modi Wardrobe in brown offers a versatile, mid-century inspired look that works really well in both contemporary and rustic interiors. I love its warm wood tone, which adds a cosy feel to bedrooms or dressing rooms. Its clean lines and compact size make it ideal for smaller spaces or alcoves, while the two drawers at the base provide handy extra storage for accessories or smaller items. To style it effectively, consider pairing it with brass or matte black accents for a modern touch, or with woven textiles and vintage pieces for a more eclectic vibe. Practical tips include keeping the surface clear of clutter to showcase its natural warmth, and complementing it with soft lighting to highlight the rich wood finish. Overall, it’s a practical, stylish choice that balances function and design effortlessly.

About Barker and Stonehouse

Founded in 1946, Barker and Stonehouse offer a diverse range of stylish and timeless pieces. From contemporary to traditional designs, Barker and Stonehouse brings sophistication and comfort to every room.

A Remarkable Journey

Born from the vision of two young RAF men, Charles Barker and Alex Stonehouse, Barker and Stonehouse emerged as a beacon of hope, infusing post-war Britain with a hint of glamour. Starting from a single store in Stockton on Tees, their entrepreneurial spirit led to rapid expansion, opening multiple stores across the region.

Their fast growth was fueled not only by their flair for business but also by their dedication to innovation. The business transformed over the years, adapting to the changing landscapes of retail, all while preserving its charm and values. By 2021, they marked an impressive 75 years in the industry, a testament to their enduring commitment to quality and customer service.

Sustainability at the Forefront

From the very start, Barker and Stonehouse has held a deep commitment to the environment. This devotion was showcased through initiatives such as the Trees4Trees Project, a reforestation effort in Indonesia.

Ensuring that for every tree used in their products, more than two were replanted, nearly 1.5 million trees have been restored under this initiative.

Their Knaresborough store, one of the greenest retail stores in the UK, further underscores their dedication to sustainable practices. As a cherry on top, by 2021, the company achieved the status of "Carbon Neutral Plus", making them a trailblazer in the furniture industry.

Innovative Spaces and Expanding Horizons

Over the decades, Barker and Stonehouse didn't just expand in number, but in the quality and innovation of their spaces. From opening their iconic store in Battersea, London, which beautifully preserved the characteristics of an old candle factory, to their latest state-of-the-art Gateshead store in 2023, every location tells a story.

They have also ventured into digital realms, ensuring a vast online presence and offering a wide range of products to customers all over the UK. Their partnerships, like the one with Fenwick in 2021, illustrate their adaptability and constant quest to reach new audiences.
