Description

Asymmetrically designed, the unique Modi 4 Drawer 2 Door Sideboard is full of character, perfect for complementing urban, industrial themes and provides ample amounts of storage space through its 4 handy drawers and 2 roomy cupboards. Thoughtfully crafted from reclaimed wood, the Modi features its own natural knots and grains which are wonderfully accentuated by its rustic saddle tan finish. Carefully embellished with brass coloured handles and legs that attractively contrast again the wood’s dark aesthetic, the Modi looks glorious decorated with ceramic accessories in neutral tones and lush greenery in stylish and quirky vases.

Our Stylist Says

I love this sideboard’s raw, reclaimed wood finish, which brings warmth and character to any space. It works particularly well in rustic, industrial, or eclectic interiors, complementing natural textures and earthy tones. Practical styling tips include using it as a statement piece in a dining room or hall, with decorative bowls or plants on top for added visual interest. Its generous storage capacity makes it ideal for organising cutlery, tableware, or media accessories, while the varied drawer and door configuration allows for flexible organisation. Keep styling minimal on the surface to highlight its rugged charm, or add contrasting modern accessories for an eclectic mix.

About Barker and Stonehouse

Founded in 1946, Barker and Stonehouse offer a diverse range of stylish and timeless pieces. From contemporary to traditional designs, Barker and Stonehouse brings sophistication and comfort to every room.

A Remarkable Journey

Born from the vision of two young RAF men, Charles Barker and Alex Stonehouse, Barker and Stonehouse emerged as a beacon of hope, infusing post-war Britain with a hint of glamour. Starting from a single store in Stockton on Tees, their entrepreneurial spirit led to rapid expansion, opening multiple stores across the region.

Their fast growth was fueled not only by their flair for business but also by their dedication to innovation. The business transformed over the years, adapting to the changing landscapes of retail, all while preserving its charm and values. By 2021, they marked an impressive 75 years in the industry, a testament to their enduring commitment to quality and customer service.

Sustainability at the Forefront

From the very start, Barker and Stonehouse has held a deep commitment to the environment. This devotion was showcased through initiatives such as the Trees4Trees Project, a reforestation effort in Indonesia.

Ensuring that for every tree used in their products, more than two were replanted, nearly 1.5 million trees have been restored under this initiative.

Their Knaresborough store, one of the greenest retail stores in the UK, further underscores their dedication to sustainable practices. As a cherry on top, by 2021, the company achieved the status of "Carbon Neutral Plus", making them a trailblazer in the furniture industry.

Innovative Spaces and Expanding Horizons

Over the decades, Barker and Stonehouse didn't just expand in number, but in the quality and innovation of their spaces. From opening their iconic store in Battersea, London, which beautifully preserved the characteristics of an old candle factory, to their latest state-of-the-art Gateshead store in 2023, every location tells a story.

They have also ventured into digital realms, ensuring a vast online presence and offering a wide range of products to customers all over the UK. Their partnerships, like the one with Fenwick in 2021, illustrate their adaptability and constant quest to reach new audiences.
