The classic design of the Barcelona chair was originally designed as a throne for the King and Queen of Spain during the 1929 World Exposition in Barcelona. This desktop sized version of Lilly Reich and Ludwig Mies van der Rohe's Barcelona Chair is part of a miniature collection of the most important classics of modern furniture history. The construction, materials and colours correspond perfectly to the historical Vitra Design Museum Collection original and in some cases were assisted by the designers to develop the miniatures. The miniatures are not only valuable collector items but are also ideal illustrative material for universities and colleges.
