Waves break as the sun sets in this work by Mike Shepherd, mounted and presented in a metallic-effect frame, ready to hang on your wall. Protecting the image, it's glazed with lightweight plastic, a less fragile material compared to glass but equally as transparent. Mike Shepherd's beautiful photography aims to achieve a clear description of natural design and elemental simplicity in the landscape. He explores inner light, essence and ideal form. His images are simultaneously realistic and impressionistic. Born in London in 1964, Shepherd took up photography on his sixteenth birthday. A Lancaster University graduate, he came out with a first-class honours degree in Eastern art and architecture, going on to teach photography, digital imaging and digital art at the same university. After this, he embarked on his now full-time career as a landscape photographer, where he is strongly influenced by the American landscape monochrome tradition. Have you thought about wall hooks and fittings?
I really like this sunset print for its vibrant yellows and dynamic colours, which can instantly add warmth and energy to a space. It works particularly well in living rooms or kitchens where you want to create a lively, inviting atmosphere. The large size makes it a statement piece, so it’s best paired with minimalist furnishings that allow the artwork to stand out. Practical styling tips include hanging it at eye level above a sideboard or sofa, and considering a thin, sleek frame or no frame at all to keep the focus on the scene. The bright hues also lend themselves to eclectic or contemporary interiors, and you can easily complement it with accessories in similar warm shades for a cohesive look.
