Description
The Melt Large Portable Light is a portable light with an integrated LED module. With an IP44 rating, it's suitable for indoor and outdoor use. Equipped with a tripod base and a convenient hanging strap, it seamlessly adapts to transform any indoor or outdoor space. The Melt collection features an avant-garde design that undergoes a mesmerising optical transformation, shifting from a hyper-reflective mirror finish when off to a translucent, hot-blown glass effect with a rich depth when illuminated. Made in Germany using high-tech manufacturing, this striking series pairs cutting-edge engineering with organic form to manipulate light and reflection, creating a dramatic focal point.
Our Stylist Says
I love how the Melt lamp combines sleek, contemporary design with versatility-its portable nature means it can be easily moved between different rooms or used as a statement piece in various settings. It works particularly well in modern, minimalist interiors, where its bold form adds drama without overwhelming the space. For practical styling, consider pairing it with neutral furnishings to let the lamp stand out, or use it against textured backgrounds for added depth. Its size and design make it a great accent in living rooms or as a unique bedside light, and it’s perfect for creating cosy, ambient lighting when needed.

About Tom Dixon
From Bass Guitar to Design Guru
Tom Dixon isn't your typical designer. Starting as the bass guitarist for Funkapolitan, a twist of fate led him to the world of design after a series of motorbike accidents.
By the 1980s, he was gaining recognition with pieces like the iconic "S' chair for Italian giant Cappellini. By the 90s, his creativity brought him to the forefront of British design, even rejuvenating the Habitat brand.
But it wasn't until 2002 that the Tom Dixon brand was established, with its base in London's King's Cross. The brand, known for pioneering lighting, furniture, and accessories, quickly gained international acclaim and is now represented in 90 countries.
Master of Materials
Tom Dixon's genius lies in his ability to reimagine ordinary materials. From the early days, he transformed found objects and industrial materials into art.
Whether it's the allure of copper, the shine of stainless steel, the imperfections in hand-beaten brass, or the timeless nature of stone, Tom Dixon products always have a unique touch.
His signature products, from the Melt pendant inspired by molten glass to the instantly recognizable Beat, S Chair, and Wingback, can be found in museums like the Victoria & Albert Museum in London and MOMA in New York.
More Than Just Products
Tom Dixon's impact isn't limited to individual items. In 2007, he launched Design Research Studio, which has since redefined spaces around the world.
From the Drugstore Brasserie in Paris to reimagining the modern cruise experience for Virgin Voyages, his design agency creates immersive environments.
