Expertly hand woven by skilled artisans in Pakistan, the contemporary Mélange Pattern 1 Runner is inspired by traditional kilim rugs. Kilim rugs have been produced since ancient times; traditionally composed of bamboo, the Mélange Pattern 1 Runner is woven from hand spun Afghan wool to provide a contemporary twist on a classic design. Founded in 1987 by Nani Marquina, nanimarquina blends contemporary designs with traditional techniques to create unique and eye-catching handcrafted rugs. Committed to supporting the artisans who create its rugs, nanimarquina offers improved living standards, new opportunities and is fully confident that no child labour was involved in the process of creating its beautiful rugs. Conscious of its societal and environmental impact, nanimarquina places ethics at the forefront of its production process. Passionate about reusing, reducing and recycling, it aims to preserve natural resources through the use of biodegradable and recycled products. It uses an eco-friendly chemical-free washing method that enriches the environment with nitrogen and uses less water than traditional cleaning methods.
