Description

Design. Perfect for those with a flair for fashion or a lover of clothing, the Medway Double Wardrobe provides a stylish means of storage and is handy in that is can be suited to an array of interior styles. With a simple design that features subtle contours and a striking white finish, the Medway’s classic style has a sense of timelessness, making it great for both modern and more traditional decors. Offering plenty of practical storage through its internal hanging rail and large drawer, the Medway also comes with modern chrome for a sleek modern finish.

Our Stylist Says

I love this wardrobe for its clean, timeless look that suits both traditional and contemporary interiors. The all-white wood finish makes it incredibly versatile-pair it with soft pastels for a gentle, relaxed feel or with darker, more dramatic tones for contrast. Its practicality is a real plus, especially with the added drawer at the bottom, which provides excellent storage for smaller items or accessories. Styling tip: keep it pared-back with neat, organised interiors inside, and consider adding a cosy textile or vintage accessory on top to give it a personalised touch. It works particularly well in bedrooms with a light, airy colour palette but can also be a standout piece in a more eclectic space.

About Barker and Stonehouse

Founded in 1946, Barker and Stonehouse offer a diverse range of stylish and timeless pieces. From contemporary to traditional designs, Barker and Stonehouse brings sophistication and comfort to every room.

A Remarkable Journey

Born from the vision of two young RAF men, Charles Barker and Alex Stonehouse, Barker and Stonehouse emerged as a beacon of hope, infusing post-war Britain with a hint of glamour. Starting from a single store in Stockton on Tees, their entrepreneurial spirit led to rapid expansion, opening multiple stores across the region.

Their fast growth was fueled not only by their flair for business but also by their dedication to innovation. The business transformed over the years, adapting to the changing landscapes of retail, all while preserving its charm and values. By 2021, they marked an impressive 75 years in the industry, a testament to their enduring commitment to quality and customer service.

Sustainability at the Forefront

From the very start, Barker and Stonehouse has held a deep commitment to the environment. This devotion was showcased through initiatives such as the Trees4Trees Project, a reforestation effort in Indonesia.

Ensuring that for every tree used in their products, more than two were replanted, nearly 1.5 million trees have been restored under this initiative.

Their Knaresborough store, one of the greenest retail stores in the UK, further underscores their dedication to sustainable practices. As a cherry on top, by 2021, the company achieved the status of "Carbon Neutral Plus", making them a trailblazer in the furniture industry.

Innovative Spaces and Expanding Horizons

Over the decades, Barker and Stonehouse didn't just expand in number, but in the quality and innovation of their spaces. From opening their iconic store in Battersea, London, which beautifully preserved the characteristics of an old candle factory, to their latest state-of-the-art Gateshead store in 2023, every location tells a story.

They have also ventured into digital realms, ensuring a vast online presence and offering a wide range of products to customers all over the UK. Their partnerships, like the one with Fenwick in 2021, illustrate their adaptability and constant quest to reach new audiences.
