Description
Designed by Robert Dudley Best and crafted by GUBI, the functional and versatile Bestlite BL4 Floor Lamp is influenced by the Bauhaus philosophy. Recognisable for its swan-necked silhouette combined with an adjustable arm, the iconic Floor Lamp was first sketched by British designer Robert Dudley Best in England in 1930. Featuring clean lines and an elegant expression, the design was favoured by Winston Churchill during World War II and has since become a contemporary classic. Robert Dudley Best is now recognised as one of the great British designers of the 20th century, while the Bestlite remains an elegant testimony to his work. First produced by the manufacturing firm Best & Lloyd, founded by Best's family in 1840, Danish design firm GUBI took over the production of this iconic light and continues to manufacture it to exacting standards to this day. Requires: 1x max. 40W E14 bulb (not included).
Our Stylist Says
I love this lamp for its sleek, timeless design that brings a touch of mid-century style into contemporary interiors. The brass finish combined with black creates a versatile look that works well in both modern and eclectic schemes. It's particularly effective in living rooms or home offices where task lighting is key, but its sculptural form also makes it an eye-catching feature as a standalone piece. Practical styling tips include pairing it with a mix of textures - such as soft fabrics or matte finishes - to highlight its metallic accents, and placing it next to a cosy armchair or beside a reading nook. Its adjustable arm makes it highly functional, offering focused light where needed without overwhelming the space.
