I’m a fan of this black media shelving for its simple grid layout and matt-black finish - it works equally well in a pared-back urban loft or a cosy mid-century living room. The open cubbies make it easy to mix books, records and decorative boxes, while leaving a few bays empty helps it feel light. For styling, group items of the same height or colour together, slot in a trailing plant to soften the edges and use a couple of rattan baskets to hide cables or remotes. To keep it looking crisp, alternate stacked and upright books and add subtle LED strip lighting along the back of one row.

In 1980, Chris Dawson set up a simple open-air market stall in Plymouth. By 1989, this entrepreneurial spirit led to the opening of the very first physical store on Billacombe Road, originally named "C.D.S. Superstores". However, in the early '90s, a rebranding took place, introducing "The Range" to the world.
Today, with a whopping 200+ stores across the UK, The Range boasts an impressive selection of over 65,000 products, spreading across 16 diverse departments, all dedicated to enhancing homes and lifestyles.
Chris Dawson, the brain behind The Range, held the CEO position from 1989 to 2017. With a flair for business, Chris's achievements haven't gone unnoticed. He was even ranked fifth in a survey of Britain's Top 100 Entrepreneurs.
