Our Stylist Says

I love the Maya Wireball Easyfit Shade because of its versatile, contemporary design that adds a touch of industrial chic to any space. Its open wire structure creates interesting shadow play, making it perfect for modern and minimalist interiors, but it can also bring an edgy contrast to softer, cosy settings. When styling, consider hanging it in a kitchen or dining area to emphasise its sleek silhouette, or in a living room with other monochrome or metal accents for a cohesive look. Practical tips include pairing it with an Edison bulb for warm, nostalgic lighting or a colourful bulb for a fun twist. Its straightforward fit and bold design make it a practical choice that effortlessly elevates the aesthetic of most interiors.

About BHS.com

Founded in 1928, BHS is a renowned brand that caters to various tastes and budgets. From modern to classic designs, BHS offers quality items that effortlessly elevate your decor.

Historical Roots

British Home Stores, known as BHS, was founded by a group of U.S. entrepreneurs with the goal of replicating the same success that was seen by Woolworths.

Their first store was on the streets of Brixton and the brand quickly gained popularity for its diverse offerings.

Over time, their range of products expanded to encompass not just clothing and household items, but also furniture, electronics, entertainment, and even beauty products. By the 1960's, BHS already had 94 stores across the nation!

Expansion and Evolution

BHS has always been on the cutting edge of retail trends! In the 1970s and 1980s, when indoor shopping centres were gaining popularity, BHS quickly adapted. Their collaboration with Sainsbury's led to the creation of SavaCentre hypermarkets, which offered a combined retail experience of both general merchandise and groceries.

They didn't limit themselves to the UK either. By 1985, BHS opened its doors in Gibraltar, marking its international debut. Significant milestones like the merger with Habitat and Mothercare in 1986 further shaped its success.
