The French designer, Inga Sempé, is on a roll ! She has designed a collection of inspirational lights for Hay which are fun, elegant and simple. The designer proves her love of colour and joyous minimalism to us once again. The pleated cotton lampshade has a delicious retro charm. Its traditional look is modernised by a range of vivid and current hues. The golden steel wire base sports clean-cut geometric lines. Its contemporary and industrial style contrasts prettily with the slightly dated lampshade. By playing around with established design conventions, Inga Sempé has updated the silhouette of the traditional table lamp. The Matin lamp will work in any setting, from the sitting room and study to the bedroom. This lamp is fitted with a dimmer and an integrated LED light. The designer, Inga Sempé, on her work : "I try to make simple objects (but not minimalist) with a particular character, which will please people from 20 to 100 years old."
I love this floor lamp for its blend of warm colour and functional simplicity. The textile in peach-orange adds a cosy, inviting feel-perfect for both modern and mid-century-inspired interiors. It works particularly well in living rooms or reading nooks where softer lighting is desired. To style it effectively, pair it with neutral or earthy tones in furniture and accessories to let the fabric pop without overwhelming the space. Its streamlined shape makes it versatile; it fits seamlessly into minimalist setups but also adds a subtle warmth to eclectic or Scandinavian styles. For practical tips, position it next to a comfortable armchair or sofa to create a cosy corner, and consider using a bulb with a warm colour temperature to enhance the textile’s inviting hue.
