Description

Maija Isola’s Kivet (stones) design builds on circles cut with scissors. The pattern was most likely inspired by the big rough-edged stones that were manually cleared from the designer’s atelier home’s grounds. The Marimekko range of tufted and woven rugs translates some of Marimekko’s most famous and iconic designs. These timeless rugs are offered in the best qualities in the vibrant colour palette of Marimekko and will add a touch of joyful living to any home. This rug is tufted by hand, meaning that material is injected into the back of the rug with a tufting gun, holding the material firmly in place. The benefits of a wool rug Warm and durable, wool feels beautifully soft underfoot and is long-lasting Naturally flame-retardant and odour resistant Water repellent so easier to clean Naturally biodegradable, wool is part of the circular economy and contains no micro plastics About your new rug We recommend John Lewis & Partners Rug Hold Underlay. It prevents your rug from moving underfoot and protects against colour transfer to the floor As this rug is made using natural fibres, shedding is to be expected. This will reduce over time, and should not have an impact on the lifespan or performance of your rug. When you first get your rug, please use the brush attachment on your vacuum cleaner whilst the shedding dies down. After that, when vacuuming your rug, use suction only. Rotating brushes may damage the fibres. When vacuuming your rug, use suction only. Rotating brushes may damage the fibres Blot any spills with a clean, dry cloth. Do not rub or use harsh detergents. Attend to spillages immediately and blot with a clean, dry cloth to prevent staining. Dilute a small amount of appropriate carpet shampoo in water. Dampen a colourfast cloth in the diluted shampoo solution and dab the rug, lightly agitating, moving in the direction of the pile. Treat the whole rug and not just the affected area. To restore the appearance of the affected area, use a soft bristled brush to gently comb in the direction of the pile. Allow the rug to thoroughly dry.

Our Stylist Says

I love this rug for its bold, graphic pattern and the way it brings a contemporary yet timeless feel to a space. The large navy circles against the neutral background make it a versatile piece that can anchor a room, especially in modern or minimalist interiors. It works well under a dining table, in a living room, or even in a creative workspace. For styling tips, pair it with neutral or monochrome furniture to let the pattern stand out or add some colourful accessories for a lively contrast. Since it’s a pure wool rug, it not only offers durability and warmth but also adds a plush texture that’s comfortable underfoot. Keep the surrounding decor simple to let the pattern be the focal point, or introduce other organic shapes and natural materials to create a cohesive look.

About John Lewis

Founded in 1864, John Lewis is a trusted and beloved brand where you can find a diverse range of furniture for every style and budget, alongside finding the perfect item that reflects your personal taste.

A Legacy of Innovation and Inclusion

John Lewis started as a small shop on London's Oxford Street in 1864. Today, it's part of a bigger family called the John Lewis Partnership, which also includes Waitrose stores.

What makes them special is that they're owned by their employees, known as 'Partners'. The idea, from the beginning, was to give everyone a say in how the business was run. With over 74,000 Partners (employees) at the heart of its operations, the essence of John Lewis's vision, from over a century ago, still echoes today being the largest employee-owned venture.

Adapting to Changing Times

Like many stores, John Lewis has had to change with the times. They've closed some shops but have grown their online business a lot, especially when more people started shopping online during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Their history is filled with key moments, like buying Peter Jones in 1905, adding Waitrose in 1937, and starting their website in 2001. They've always tried to adapt and stay relevant.

Commitment to a Greater Purpose

John Lewis believes in doing good and making the world a better place. This is seen in the way they treat their employees and customers. For example, in 2021, they were the first big UK store to give parents six months paid leave when they have a baby and two weeks paid leave if they lose a pregnancy. They've been around for over a century and always aim to do the right thing by everyone.
