Coming from the Muse collection, this surrealist vase in the shape of a clenched fist pays homage to the artist, Marcel Duchamp, one of Jonathan Adler's sources of inspiration. Sculptural and atypical, the vases by Jonathan Adler have the peculiarity of bringing out in relief, poetically and surreally, parts of the body (face, nipples, etc. ) borrowed from idealised characters. Each piece is made of porcelain, with a mat finish that enhances the effect produced by the 3D pattern. Ceramicist, designer and internationally renowned interior designer, Jonathan Adler first became passionate about terracotta and exhibited his first pottery collection at Barneys in New York in 1993. "Earth is the basis of my work and will always be" affirms Jonathan Adler. For each ceramic piece from the collection, a prototype is made from clay in Jonathan Adler's workshop located in the achingly hip So Ho neighbourhood of New York.
I really love this vase for its bold, sculptural presence-it's a playful statement piece that adds character to both modern and eclectic interiors. Its clenched fist design lends itself well to minimalist settings where it can stand out as a focal point, or mixed with sleek metallics and chunky textures for a more eclectic vibe. Practical styling tips include pairing it with monochrome floral arrangements or even keeping it empty to showcase its intriguing shape. It's perfect on a side table, mantelpiece, or in a display shelf, where its quirky silhouette can truly shine.
