*Graceful lines and simple hand-carved details. *A luxury wooden sleigh bed in a rich cherry veneer finish. *The matching Manoir bedroom furniture range includes a bedside chest, chest of drawers, dressing table and wardrobe. *Also available in painted finishes with our Manoir Painted Socle Bed. * Head height 40 or 101cm. * Foot height 14 or 36cm. *Bed rail starting height internal 8 or 21cm. External side rail height 29cm. WHAT IS A SOCLE BED. The word socle comes from the Italian word zoccolo literally meaning wooden shoe and dates back to the 18th Century, thus giving us the English word sock. Architecturally, its a low plinth or pedestal to display the article on top, hence the design for our beds.
