Description

Design. Whether its decadent dining that you desire, or perhaps a means of spicing up your hallway decor? The Maison Bench is an attractive and practical addition to various rooms of the home, all the while oozing an irresistible, rustic charm. Featuring an on-trend two tone aesthetic that pairs contrasting mango wood with a moss grey painted finish, the Maison has a modern-traditional look through clean lines with elegant rounded corners that works with bold, industrial themes as well as clean and fresh minimalist vibes. Ideal for providing extra seating, perfect for unexpected guests, the Maison’s inviting look is sure to make a great impression.

Our Stylist Says

I love this bench because of its versatile, slightly rustic aesthetic that pairs well with both traditional and contemporary interiors. The reclaimed wood top adds warmth and character, making it a great statement piece in a hallway, at the foot of a bed, or even as additional seating in the living room. Its muted, moss grey base lends a subtle touch of colour that can complement neutral palettes but also works well with other soft pastels or earthy tones. For styling tips, consider adding a woven runner or a stack of books along the length to create an inviting, lived-in look. Practical and easy to incorporate, this tends to work best in relaxed, casual spaces or country-inspired schemes.

About Barker and Stonehouse

Founded in 1946, Barker and Stonehouse offer a diverse range of stylish and timeless pieces. From contemporary to traditional designs, Barker and Stonehouse brings sophistication and comfort to every room.

A Remarkable Journey

Born from the vision of two young RAF men, Charles Barker and Alex Stonehouse, Barker and Stonehouse emerged as a beacon of hope, infusing post-war Britain with a hint of glamour. Starting from a single store in Stockton on Tees, their entrepreneurial spirit led to rapid expansion, opening multiple stores across the region.

Their fast growth was fueled not only by their flair for business but also by their dedication to innovation. The business transformed over the years, adapting to the changing landscapes of retail, all while preserving its charm and values. By 2021, they marked an impressive 75 years in the industry, a testament to their enduring commitment to quality and customer service.

Sustainability at the Forefront

From the very start, Barker and Stonehouse has held a deep commitment to the environment. This devotion was showcased through initiatives such as the Trees4Trees Project, a reforestation effort in Indonesia.

Ensuring that for every tree used in their products, more than two were replanted, nearly 1.5 million trees have been restored under this initiative.

Their Knaresborough store, one of the greenest retail stores in the UK, further underscores their dedication to sustainable practices. As a cherry on top, by 2021, the company achieved the status of "Carbon Neutral Plus", making them a trailblazer in the furniture industry.

Innovative Spaces and Expanding Horizons

Over the decades, Barker and Stonehouse didn't just expand in number, but in the quality and innovation of their spaces. From opening their iconic store in Battersea, London, which beautifully preserved the characteristics of an old candle factory, to their latest state-of-the-art Gateshead store in 2023, every location tells a story.

They have also ventured into digital realms, ensuring a vast online presence and offering a wide range of products to customers all over the UK. Their partnerships, like the one with Fenwick in 2021, illustrate their adaptability and constant quest to reach new audiences.
