I’m drawn to this deep-blue velvet bar stool for its rich colour and subtle diamond-stitching, which add depth without overwhelming a space. The slim black metal legs keep it feeling contemporary, so it sits equally well in a modern kitchen, an industrial-style loft or alongside a mid-century diner counter. For styling, group a few at a slim breakfast bar, hang brass or matte-black pendant lights above and balance the look with pale grey walls or a warm timber countertop. A patterned rug beneath will anchor the seating area and introduce extra texture.

In 1980, Chris Dawson set up a simple open-air market stall in Plymouth. Chris Dawson, the brain behind The Range, held the CEO position from 1989 to 2017. With a flair for business, Chris's achievements haven't gone unnoticed. He was even ranked fifth in a survey of Britain's Top 100 Entrepreneurs.
