The idea for the Lokki (seagull) pattern came to Maija Isola when she was looking at a window with a curtain drawn on it. The sun was shining and the wide folds in the curtain formed rippling shadows on the fabric. Maija was suddenly inspired: if a fabric is printed with waves, even a small piece of that fabric appears thick, and richly folded. Cheerful, chic and graphic, the cushion cover collection by Marimekko brings your interior to life! Their original patterns blend together wonderfully. Created in 1951, Marimekko is a state of mind, a way of life based on creativity, freedom of spirit and inventiveness. Its notoriety dates back to 1960, the year in which Jackie Kennedy made several public appearances in dresses designed by Marimekko. The brand went on to enjoy enormous success, which continues today with a range of clothing and decorative accessories in vibrant colours, for a house full of inspiration!
