Price History

Description

This elegant extending dining table, crafted from high-quality Mindi wood, combines classic charm with modern functionality. Its smooth, warm-toned finish highlights the natural beauty of the wood grain, while the gracefully curved legs add a touch of sophistication. Designed for versatility, the table extends effortlessly to accommodate extra guests, making it perfect for both intimate dinners and lively gatherings. Whether in a cosy dining space or a formal setting, this timeless piece brings style and practicality to any home.

Our Stylist Says

I particularly like how the Loire extending table combines those soft, curving legs with the warm, natural grain of mindi wood. Its 165-220 cm length makes it equally at home in a tucked-away breakfast nook or as a full-size family table, so it suits modern farmhouse, Scandinavian or more pared-back transitional interiors. For styling, mix upholstered side chairs with a couple of slender-legged designs to keep things informal, add a neutral linen runner and low glass vases so you don’t obscure views across the table, and finish with a simple pendant light overhead. To maintain the finish, dust regularly and wipe with a damp cloth in mild soapy water, avoiding strong chemicals or direct sunlight.

About Barker and Stonehouse

Founded in 1946, Barker and Stonehouse offer a diverse range of stylish and timeless pieces. From contemporary to traditional designs, Barker and Stonehouse brings sophistication and comfort to every room.

A Remarkable Journey

Born from the vision of two young RAF men, Charles Barker and Alex Stonehouse, Barker and Stonehouse emerged as a beacon of hope, infusing post-war Britain with a hint of glamour. Starting from a single store in Stockton on Tees, their entrepreneurial spirit led to rapid expansion, opening multiple stores across the region.

Their fast growth was fueled not only by their flair for business but also by their dedication to innovation. The business transformed over the years, adapting to the changing landscapes of retail, all while preserving its charm and values. By 2021, they marked an impressive 75 years in the industry, a testament to their enduring commitment to quality and customer service.

Sustainability at the Forefront

From the very start, Barker and Stonehouse has held a deep commitment to the environment. This devotion was showcased through initiatives such as the Trees4Trees Project, a reforestation effort in Indonesia.

Ensuring that for every tree used in their products, more than two were replanted, nearly 1.5 million trees have been restored under this initiative.

Their Knaresborough store, one of the greenest retail stores in the UK, further underscores their dedication to sustainable practices. As a cherry on top, by 2021, the company achieved the status of "Carbon Neutral Plus", making them a trailblazer in the furniture industry.

Innovative Spaces and Expanding Horizons

Over the decades, Barker and Stonehouse didn't just expand in number, but in the quality and innovation of their spaces. From opening their iconic store in Battersea, London, which beautifully preserved the characteristics of an old candle factory, to their latest state-of-the-art Gateshead store in 2023, every location tells a story.

They have also ventured into digital realms, ensuring a vast online presence and offering a wide range of products to customers all over the UK. Their partnerships, like the one with Fenwick in 2021, illustrate their adaptability and constant quest to reach new audiences.
