At the end of the years 1940, wearied not to find a luminary adapted to his activity of general mechanics, Jean-Louis Domecq draws one of them. The final drawing is fixed in April 1950. It perfectly corresponds to the requirement specifications fixed: simple, robust and articulated in order to adapt to all working stations. In 1953, he creates a compagny dedicated to the marketing of his lamp and whose his initial will form the name : Ji e. L Dé. Since this date, this lamp called Standard by customers, never ceased being product produced and will move by all small keys according to the standards and will adapt sometimes to the needs for some specific applications. The Jieldé lamps are recognized as being icons of the french industrial art. They are always manufactured in Lyon (France) with the same old gestures, all are numbered in order to remain single.
The small reading lamp with its clean, industrial lines is a versatile addition to both contemporary and vintage-inspired interiors. Its double arm design makes it practical for task lighting over a sofa, desk, or bed, while the adjustable arms add out-to-be useful for directing light precisely where needed. I love it because of its minimalist aesthetic, durable metal construction, and flexibility-perfect for accentuating an office nook or adding an industrial touch to a living room. Styling tips include pairing it with neutral tones or industrial finishes for a cohesive look, or mixing it with softer textures and colours to create an eclectic vibe. Its height-adjustable feature provides functionality without compromising on style, making it an ideal, space-efficient choice for smaller rooms or dedicated reading corners.
