I’m a fan of the low Lido shelf because its slim profile and crisp white finish make it a versatile backdrop in compact rooms, hallways or under a window. It suits minimalist, Scandi-inspired or contemporary settings, where clean lines and practical storage are key.
To style it, mix a stack of books with a couple of decorative boxes or woven baskets on the lower shelf for concealed items. On the middle shelf, position a small plant or ceramic vase beside a framed print to add texture without clutter. In 1980, Chris Dawson set up a simple open-air market stall in Plymouth. By 1989, this entrepreneurial spirit led to the opening of the very first physical store on Billacombe Road, originally named "C.D.S. Superstores". However, in the early '90s, a rebranding took place, introducing "The Range" to the world.
Today, with a whopping 200+ stores across the UK, The Range boasts an impressive selection of over 65,000 products, spreading across 16 diverse departments, all dedicated to enhancing homes and lifestyles.
Chris Dawson, the brain behind The Range, held the CEO position from 1989 to 2017. With a flair for business, Chris's achievements haven't gone unnoticed. He was even ranked fifth in a survey of Britain's Top 100 Entrepreneurs.
