Price History

Description

Design. Beautifully blending the natural qualities of mango wood with the smoothness of concrete, the Leif sideboard is a versatile statement piece that sits suitably in both modern and industrial settings. Its bold shapes, clean lines and stylish parquet doors evoke classic mid-century sophistication, whilst brass accents lift the look with a glamorous touch. Set upon slim splayed legs, the Leif sideboard is sharp yet spacious, with three drawers for easy organisation and two doors enclosing a large compartment with a fixed shelf. Surround with rich colours and mixed textures to make the most of its eclectic appeal.

Our Stylist Says

The Leif Sideboard is a fantastic piece that combines natural mango wood with bold, geometric detailing, making it a standout addition to both contemporary and eclectic interiors. I love how its warm tones bring subtle richness to a room, while the contrasting colours and patterns add visual interest without feeling overwhelming. It works well in living rooms for storing media essentials, or in dining areas for crockery and linens. Practical styling tips include layering with textured bowls or vases on top and balancing its bold design with softer textiles and understated accessories. Its slimline silhouette and angled legs make it versatile and perfect for smaller spaces too, offering both function and style with minimal fuss.

About Barker and Stonehouse

Founded in 1946, Barker and Stonehouse offer a diverse range of stylish and timeless pieces. From contemporary to traditional designs, Barker and Stonehouse brings sophistication and comfort to every room.

A Remarkable Journey

Born from the vision of two young RAF men, Charles Barker and Alex Stonehouse, Barker and Stonehouse emerged as a beacon of hope, infusing post-war Britain with a hint of glamour. Starting from a single store in Stockton on Tees, their entrepreneurial spirit led to rapid expansion, opening multiple stores across the region.

Their fast growth was fueled not only by their flair for business but also by their dedication to innovation. The business transformed over the years, adapting to the changing landscapes of retail, all while preserving its charm and values. By 2021, they marked an impressive 75 years in the industry, a testament to their enduring commitment to quality and customer service.

Sustainability at the Forefront

From the very start, Barker and Stonehouse has held a deep commitment to the environment. This devotion was showcased through initiatives such as the Trees4Trees Project, a reforestation effort in Indonesia.

Ensuring that for every tree used in their products, more than two were replanted, nearly 1.5 million trees have been restored under this initiative.

Their Knaresborough store, one of the greenest retail stores in the UK, further underscores their dedication to sustainable practices. As a cherry on top, by 2021, the company achieved the status of "Carbon Neutral Plus", making them a trailblazer in the furniture industry.

Innovative Spaces and Expanding Horizons

Over the decades, Barker and Stonehouse didn't just expand in number, but in the quality and innovation of their spaces. From opening their iconic store in Battersea, London, which beautifully preserved the characteristics of an old candle factory, to their latest state-of-the-art Gateshead store in 2023, every location tells a story.

They have also ventured into digital realms, ensuring a vast online presence and offering a wide range of products to customers all over the UK. Their partnerships, like the one with Fenwick in 2021, illustrate their adaptability and constant quest to reach new audiences.
