I’m a fan of the Theodore ceiling light in antique brass because its fluted glass shade and warm metal finish add just the right balance of vintage character and modern simplicity. It works particularly well in period homes - hallways, bedrooms or cosy dining corners - but can also lift a contemporary kitchen island or home office with its subtle shine. Styling tip: pair it with soft neutral walls and echo the brass tone in your cabinet handles or picture frames. Make sure it hangs low enough to draw the eye (about 60-75cm above a table or bedside) and consider fitting a dimmer switch for adjustable ambience.

John Lewis started as a small shop on London's Oxford Street in 1864. Today, it's part of a bigger family called the John Lewis Partnership, which also includes Waitrose stores.
