New Antic! Antiquity has continuously inspired modern artists. With “Las Vegas”, Italian designer Fabio Novembre dusts off Antiquity by ironically revisiting the columns of classical architecture to playfully transform them into lamps. The designer has taken fragments from classical antiquity and allowed them to speak with the present. The base of the lamp is made of fibreglass: a material that perfectly imitates marble. Made of white porcelain, the upper part of the column serves as a diffuser. The translucent porcelain lets a warm, inviting light filter through. These columns are available in two heights (H 50 and H 190 cm): in the low version, the column also serves as a side table. The stylish detail: the pink cable which adds an offbeat touch. Fabio Novembre's creations are rooted in memory and collective imagination: these reduced-scale architectural pieces contain fragments of the past, and are full of enigmas and aesthetic suggestions... Displaying its timeless wisdom, this sublime architectural fragment inspires fascination through its grace and mystery. This sculptural lamp, at the boundary between art and design, creates a dreamlike, extravagant world, at once provocative, funny and absurd. Las Vegas is exhibited in our interiors to decorate as much as to illuminate. Fabio Novembre: “In all the spaces I’ve designed, I’ve always tried to integrate the pillars by transforming them from structural elements into communicative totems, just like the classic columns in which the decorative part was a cultural statement. “Las Vegas” is the postmodernist evolution of this attitude.
