Description

The "La Roche" wall light, a design classic created by Le Corbusier in the 1920s, finally reissued! A genius architect and designer, Le Corbusier designed Les Maisons La Roche et Jeanneret in Paris from 1923 to 1925. Inscribed on the Unesco World Heritage List, these buildings are the first expression of Purism in architecture. During the same period, at the Decorative Arts Exhibition in Paris in 1925, Le Corbusier distinguished himself with the Pavillon de l'Esprit Nouveau, one of the very first examples of standardised housing units. Le Corbusier even designed the lamps in his buildings to optimise their lighting. He thus created the "La Roche" wall light, which he originally intended for lighting large windows. Its industrial style originally revealed a long, bare bulb held by a stripped-back metal structure. The reissue of Nemo takes up its creator’s original design by adapting it to new technologies. An LED plate is built into an oblong glass diffuser, taking the shape of the original bulb. This diffuser is set in a sleek matt grey metal structure. This wall light gives off a diffused, warm light. This wall light can be positioned either way: horizontally or vertically.

Our Stylist Says

The La Roche LED wall light is a striking piece that blends mid-century modern design with contemporary functionality. I love how its sleek, streamlined profile makes it versatile enough to suit a range of interiors-from minimalist urban apartments to more eclectic, vintage-inspired spaces. It works particularly well as a statement bedside or hallway light, adding both ambient lighting and a touch of architectural interest. For styling tips, consider pairing it with other monochrome or muted tones to let the light’s clean lines stand out, or use it alongside textured materials like wood or concrete for a balanced, layered look. Its ability to serve as both a functional and decorative element makes it a smart choice for streamlined, modern schemes.
