Description
A faithful collaborator of Serax, Belgian artist Marie Michielssen presents her very first collection of ceramic tableware. This sensitive collection called "La Mère'' is an affectionate ode to the maternal figure and women in general. Marie Michielssen pays tribute to those women who, despite all the social pressure, stay in tune with their hearts and positively use qualities such as empathy, intuition, the power of connection and emotional intelligence, both within their families and beyond. Marie Michielssen: “It’s also an ode to my mother and grandmother. They taught me everything. At home, we were always gathered around a nice table. We paid great attention to detail, and the meal itself was an opportunity to enjoy the experience and live in the moment. The table was nicely set and the food was treated with the greatest respect.'' Composed of plates, bowls, dishes and cutlery, this complete table service is designed for all those who have hospitality at heart, whatever the occasion. The need for warmth and connection is part of human nature. And what could be better than bringing family and friends together around a carefully laid table? The different ceramic pieces can be stacked to create totemic compositions. Marie Michielssen explains: “At the time of its making, I created a lot of shapes but didn't have a lot of room to store them. So I started putting them on top of each other. And I noticed that this gave rise to hybrid pieces, which could be used upside down or right side up, which I really liked. These new raised shapes elevate the dishes you serve to a literally higher level. The centrepieces and vases are fun, they can be combined, but you can also use them to add a festive element to your tablescape.'' Presented in a gift box, this 6-person cutlery set consists of 24 items (6 table knives, 6 table forks, 6 table spoons, 6 teaspoons). These cutlery items are made of stainless steel with a stonewash finish. The high-end finish and coating magnify its look.
