Thierry Dreyfus made a name for himself in the lighting sphere for haute couture catwalks. Yves Saint-Laurent, Dior, Marni, Calvin Klein, Chloé have called on him to light their catwalks. For French creative house DCW Editions, he has created a sculptural lamp:The Lampe B. This light was initially produced in 5 units, before being developed into a longer series with 25 numbered and signed units, made from porcelain by the venerable Bavaria production of Nymphenburg and sold for $9,000 in New York by Atelier Courbet. The version produced in a larger series was made with gypsum and anodised aluminium. Offered at an affordable price, it doesn't compromise on its poetry and functionality thanks to its integrated LED panel. A pure, white piece by day, and a contrasting image by night - Lampe B changes appearance over the course of the day. It's composed of a single piece of gypsum, moulded with all curves. The lampshade is formed by the upturn of a curve to conceal the lighting module. Pierre Dreyfus' aim was to create a light which illuminates gently without losing its function. He thus opted for a shape that created the illusion of candle lighting, extremely warming, at the heart of the lamp. Of course, the combination of a 2,200 K flow and a rounded lampshade create a soft, warming light, non-blinding to preserve your night-time musings. Faithful to illuminated scenic sets, the designer once again shows us his talent for bringing light to life. Softness and intimacy are the key characteristics of this lamp made with mineral materials. "Thierry Dreyfus captures the essence of light to then transmit it and share it."
