Description

Boasting a remarkable aesthetic with high functionality, the L.Ercolani Stacking Chair was designed for comfort, space and versatility.  The stacking chair which was first launched in 1956 embraces the mid-century modern deals of function and form with its humble, linear construction, reflecting Lucian Ercolanis long-standing commitment to utility. Effortlessly fitting into a range of spaces and settings, this chair crafted from solid ash timber is also available in a choice of stains “ from bold to neutrals, you decide what suits your style best.

Our Stylist Says

I love the bright red of the Ercolani stacking chair - it’s a bold choice that injects colour and energy into any dining space. Its clean lines and classic silhouette make it versatile, suitable for both modern kitchens and more traditional dining rooms. Because it’s stackable, it’s practical for homes that need flexibility - perfect for when extra seating is needed. Styling tips include pairing it with neutral tableware to let the colour pop or combining with natural woods for a warm, Scandinavian feel. It also works well as an accent piece in a pared-back setting or amidst eclectic decor, making it a flexible addition that can adapt to various interiors.

About Barker and Stonehouse

Founded in 1946, Barker and Stonehouse offer a diverse range of stylish and timeless pieces. From contemporary to traditional designs, Barker and Stonehouse brings sophistication and comfort to every room.

A Remarkable Journey

Born from the vision of two young RAF men, Charles Barker and Alex Stonehouse, Barker and Stonehouse emerged as a beacon of hope, infusing post-war Britain with a hint of glamour. Starting from a single store in Stockton on Tees, their entrepreneurial spirit led to rapid expansion, opening multiple stores across the region.

Their fast growth was fueled not only by their flair for business but also by their dedication to innovation. The business transformed over the years, adapting to the changing landscapes of retail, all while preserving its charm and values. By 2021, they marked an impressive 75 years in the industry, a testament to their enduring commitment to quality and customer service.

Sustainability at the Forefront

From the very start, Barker and Stonehouse has held a deep commitment to the environment. This devotion was showcased through initiatives such as the Trees4Trees Project, a reforestation effort in Indonesia.

Ensuring that for every tree used in their products, more than two were replanted, nearly 1.5 million trees have been restored under this initiative.

Their Knaresborough store, one of the greenest retail stores in the UK, further underscores their dedication to sustainable practices. As a cherry on top, by 2021, the company achieved the status of "Carbon Neutral Plus", making them a trailblazer in the furniture industry.

Innovative Spaces and Expanding Horizons

Over the decades, Barker and Stonehouse didn't just expand in number, but in the quality and innovation of their spaces. From opening their iconic store in Battersea, London, which beautifully preserved the characteristics of an old candle factory, to their latest state-of-the-art Gateshead store in 2023, every location tells a story.

They have also ventured into digital realms, ensuring a vast online presence and offering a wide range of products to customers all over the UK. Their partnerships, like the one with Fenwick in 2021, illustrate their adaptability and constant quest to reach new audiences.
