Description

Design. Sleek and stylish with retro design influence, the Kriss TV unit is a real contender for best supporting role. Made from sturdy and durable solid Acacia wood, it displays beauty in its natural markings and rich tones. Both doors feature a glamorous brass inlay cross, which joins the splits of the wood with sharp symmetry. Echoing the design’s clean lines, the TV unit’s black metal legs are splayed for a touch of mid-century appeal. Two compartments and two shelves provide plenty of room for those media essentials, whilst cable holes to the back keep things tidy. It gets our vote.

Our Stylist Says

I love this TV unit for its versatility and timeless appeal. Its warm brown finish makes it an excellent addition to a variety of interiors, from vintage-inspired to modern Scandinavian styles. The clean lines and subtle brass details give it a slightly retro vibe, while the practical open shelving and drawers provide ample storage for media devices, remotes, and accessories. Styling tips include pairing it with statement lamps or greenery on top to add visual interest, or layering with books and decorative objects in the open compartments for a personalised look. It works particularly well in living rooms that embrace natural textures and minimal clutter, serving as both a functional piece and a focal point in the space.

About Barker and Stonehouse

Founded in 1946, Barker and Stonehouse offer a diverse range of stylish and timeless pieces. From contemporary to traditional designs, Barker and Stonehouse brings sophistication and comfort to every room.

A Remarkable Journey

Born from the vision of two young RAF men, Charles Barker and Alex Stonehouse, Barker and Stonehouse emerged as a beacon of hope, infusing post-war Britain with a hint of glamour. Starting from a single store in Stockton on Tees, their entrepreneurial spirit led to rapid expansion, opening multiple stores across the region.

Their fast growth was fueled not only by their flair for business but also by their dedication to innovation. The business transformed over the years, adapting to the changing landscapes of retail, all while preserving its charm and values. By 2021, they marked an impressive 75 years in the industry, a testament to their enduring commitment to quality and customer service.

Sustainability at the Forefront

From the very start, Barker and Stonehouse has held a deep commitment to the environment. This devotion was showcased through initiatives such as the Trees4Trees Project, a reforestation effort in Indonesia.

Ensuring that for every tree used in their products, more than two were replanted, nearly 1.5 million trees have been restored under this initiative.

Their Knaresborough store, one of the greenest retail stores in the UK, further underscores their dedication to sustainable practices. As a cherry on top, by 2021, the company achieved the status of "Carbon Neutral Plus", making them a trailblazer in the furniture industry.

Innovative Spaces and Expanding Horizons

Over the decades, Barker and Stonehouse didn't just expand in number, but in the quality and innovation of their spaces. From opening their iconic store in Battersea, London, which beautifully preserved the characteristics of an old candle factory, to their latest state-of-the-art Gateshead store in 2023, every location tells a story.

They have also ventured into digital realms, ensuring a vast online presence and offering a wide range of products to customers all over the UK. Their partnerships, like the one with Fenwick in 2021, illustrate their adaptability and constant quest to reach new audiences.
