Description

Design. Bringing glamour and sophistication to mealtimes, the Kora sideboard makes a grand statement in both modern and traditional spaces. Hints of mid-century are evident in its simple form and splayed legs, whilst a complex blockwork design details the doors in a wonderfully 3D profile. Subtle yet stylish, the sideboard features brass detailing to its legs and handles, enlivening the look and providing added definition. Made from solid wood and built to last, the natural beauty of its Sheesham body is showcased to the full, displaying rich tones, unique markings and gorgeous grain patterns in each surface. Pairing perfectly with the coordinating Kora dining table, the Kora sideboard features a spacious interior with fixed shelf for practicality.

Our Stylist Says

I love the Kora Sideboard for its unique textured front, which adds visual interest without feeling overwhelming. It works particularly well in mid-century modern or eclectic interiors, where the warmth of the sheesham wood can bring a natural, organic touch to the space. Practical styling tips include keeping the top surface clear for display or storage, while using baskets or decorative boxes inside to stay organised. Its earthy tone pairs beautifully with both neutral and bold colours, making it versatile for living rooms, dining areas, or even a stylish hallway. Opt for minimalist accessories to highlight the beautiful woodwork, and consider elevating the piece with complementary furniture that features similar wood tones or sleek metal accents.

About Barker and Stonehouse

Founded in 1946, Barker and Stonehouse offer a diverse range of stylish and timeless pieces. From contemporary to traditional designs, Barker and Stonehouse brings sophistication and comfort to every room.

A Remarkable Journey

Born from the vision of two young RAF men, Charles Barker and Alex Stonehouse, Barker and Stonehouse emerged as a beacon of hope, infusing post-war Britain with a hint of glamour. Starting from a single store in Stockton on Tees, their entrepreneurial spirit led to rapid expansion, opening multiple stores across the region.

Their fast growth was fueled not only by their flair for business but also by their dedication to innovation. The business transformed over the years, adapting to the changing landscapes of retail, all while preserving its charm and values. By 2021, they marked an impressive 75 years in the industry, a testament to their enduring commitment to quality and customer service.

Sustainability at the Forefront

From the very start, Barker and Stonehouse has held a deep commitment to the environment. This devotion was showcased through initiatives such as the Trees4Trees Project, a reforestation effort in Indonesia.

Ensuring that for every tree used in their products, more than two were replanted, nearly 1.5 million trees have been restored under this initiative.

Their Knaresborough store, one of the greenest retail stores in the UK, further underscores their dedication to sustainable practices. As a cherry on top, by 2021, the company achieved the status of "Carbon Neutral Plus", making them a trailblazer in the furniture industry.

Innovative Spaces and Expanding Horizons

Over the decades, Barker and Stonehouse didn't just expand in number, but in the quality and innovation of their spaces. From opening their iconic store in Battersea, London, which beautifully preserved the characteristics of an old candle factory, to their latest state-of-the-art Gateshead store in 2023, every location tells a story.

They have also ventured into digital realms, ensuring a vast online presence and offering a wide range of products to customers all over the UK. Their partnerships, like the one with Fenwick in 2021, illustrate their adaptability and constant quest to reach new audiences.
