A true design classic, Eero Saarinen’s oval Tulip Dining Table for Knoll took Saarinen five years to develop in a quest to combat the “slum of legs” commonly found underneath tables. Its beautifully curved base and refined bevelled table top cement this design as a defining accomplishment of modern aesthetics. Select the large edition if you’re looking to seat up to eight people, or opt for extra-large to seat up to ten guests.

I’m a big fan of the Saarinen tulip table in green marble - its clean lines and sculptural white base work brilliantly in both minimalist and mid-century schemes. The Verdi Alpi top brings a subtle pattern and depth of colour, making it ideal for neutral palettes that need a focal point or for adding a luxe touch to a Scandi-inspired space.
For styling, keep the tabletop free of clutter: a simple linen runner or low ceramic bowl of seasonal fruit will showcase the marble, while a set of white or pale wood dining chairs will echo the base without competing with the stone’s veining. Understated pendant lighting directly above will draw the eye down to the table, and a large, green-leaf plant nearby will tie the room’s colour story together.

Heal's is a well-known British furniture store with a history that spans over 200 years. It began in 1810 when John Harris Heal and his son started a business for feather products but soon moved into furniture.
