Since 1908, Carl Hansen & Søn has embodied the quintessence of Danish design by combining craftsmanship, quality and innovation. The brand brings together a collection of masterpieces of Scandinavian design: iconic items created by the greatest Danish designers. Handcrafted in Denmark, these pieces with their exceptional quality stand the test of time. With the strictest respect for the original models, Carl Hansen & Søn reissues the legendary creations of the founders of Scandinavian design. Designed in 1933, the Safari Chair is one of the absolute classics by Danish architect and designer Kaare Klint (1888 - 1954), known as the father of modern Danish furniture. The furniture designed by Klint is the result of the meeting between an in-depth study of functionality, proportions adapted to the human body, a thirst for know-how and the use of high-quality materials. The Safari KK47000 armchair is an iconic example of Kaare Klint's design ideology. The designer effortlessly transformed a historic archetype into a modern, folding chair. The Safari chair is inspired by the Indian Roorkhee chairs used by the British army – perhaps the first examples of self-assembled furniture. Klint focused on simplifying, clarifying and refining the construction. Sophisticated and light, the Safari armchair is defined by its well-designed proportions and remarkable material effects: solid wood and leather. The Safari KK47000 armchair by Kaare Klint is much more than just a piece of furniture: it's a functional work of art that embodies the heritage of Danish design.
