Designed in 1933, the Safari Chair is one of the absolute classics by Danish architect and designer Kaare Klint (1888 - 1954), known as the father of modern Danish furniture. The furniture designed by Klint is the result of the meeting between an in-depth study of functionality, proportions adapted to the human body, a thirst for know-how and the use of high-quality materials. The Safari KK47000 armchair is an iconic example of Kaare Klint's design ideology. The designer effortlessly transformed a historic archetype into a modern, folding chair. The Safari chair is inspired by the Indian Roorkhee chairs used by the British army – perhaps the first examples of self-assembled furniture. Klint focused on simplifying, clarifying and refining the construction. Sophisticated and light, the Safari armchair is defined by its well-designed proportions and remarkable material effects: solid wood and leather.
