Take this Kendal Large Sideboard, the classic country design allows it to shine in either a traditional or contemporary setting. A substantial piece, it incorporates shelved storage space below a pair of drawers. The combination of grooved panelling with deep base plinth and oak-effect top roots it in the cottage aesthetic, the slate bue or cool grey finish applying a contemporary twist.

I’m a big fan of this slate-coloured sideboard for its clean lines and contrasting oak-effect top - it brings just the right amount of depth without feeling heavy. It suits everything from modern farmhouse and Scandi schemes to coastal or industrial-inspired rooms, thanks to its versatile hue and matte finish.
Styling-wise, keep the surface simple: a pair of ceramic vases at one end, a low-profile lamp at the other, and a framed print or mirror centred above. Inside, use woven baskets or matching storage boxes to corral table linens or media accessories. The two shallow drawers are perfect for cutlery or chargers, while the cupboards can neatly hide away serving ware or kids’ games.

In 1980, Chris Dawson set up a simple open-air market stall in Plymouth. By 1989, this entrepreneurial spirit led to the opening of the very first physical store on Billacombe Road, originally named "C.D.S. Superstores". However, in the early '90s, a rebranding took place, introducing "The Range" to the world.
Today, with a whopping 200+ stores across the UK, The Range boasts an impressive selection of over 65,000 products, spreading across 16 diverse departments, all dedicated to enhancing homes and lifestyles.
Chris Dawson, the brain behind The Range, held the CEO position from 1989 to 2017. With a flair for business, Chris's achievements haven't gone unnoticed. He was even ranked fifth in a survey of Britain's Top 100 Entrepreneurs.
Under his leadership, The Range has not only thrived locally but has also hinted at European expansion dreams, envisioning a staggering 1,000 stores across the continent.
