Our Stylist Says

I really like this tripod lamp for its sleek, understated design and warm dark walnut finish, which adds a touch of sophistication to any space. It works particularly well in contemporary or Scandinavian interiors, where natural wood tones and minimalist aesthetics are key. Practical styling tips include placing it next to a cosy reading nook or behind a sofa to create ambient lighting without overwhelming the room. Its tripod silhouette also makes it versatile for both open-plan living areas and cosy corners, and pairing it with neutral or earthy toned furnishings allows it to be a subtle yet stylish feature.

About BHS.com

Founded in 1928, BHS is a renowned brand that caters to various tastes and budgets. From modern to classic designs, BHS offers quality items that effortlessly elevate your decor.

Historical Roots

British Home Stores, known as BHS, was founded by a group of U.S. entrepreneurs with the goal of replicating the same success that was seen by Woolworths.

Their first store was on the streets of Brixton and the brand quickly gained popularity for its diverse offerings.

Over time, their range of products expanded to encompass not just clothing and household items, but also furniture, electronics, entertainment, and even beauty products. By the 1960's, BHS already had 94 stores across the nation!

Expansion and Evolution

BHS has always been on the cutting edge of retail trends! In the 1970s and 1980s, when indoor shopping centres were gaining popularity, BHS quickly adapted. Their collaboration with Sainsbury's led to the creation of SavaCentre hypermarkets, which offered a combined retail experience of both general merchandise and groceries.

They didn't limit themselves to the UK either. By 1985, BHS opened its doors in Gibraltar, marking its international debut. Significant milestones like the merger with Habitat and Mothercare in 1986 further shaped its success.
