Description

Renowned Japanese designer Tokujin Yoshioka created this innovative dining chair, which celebrates the interplay of design and technological innovation. The dyed polycarbonate frame has a distinctive three-dimensional grid design, which makes it look incredibly light and elegant. The steel frame ensures durability and provides a linear contrast against the scooped, curved shape of the seat. This chair is now made from polycarbonate 2.0, a new, ecological material with unchanged qualities of transparency, strength and durability. It reduces carbon dioxide emissions by 60% compared to fossil-based polycarbonates and highlights Kartell's commitment to innovative industrial products with a greener design. Want to see it first? You may want to see and get a feel for the furniture in one of our shops before ordering. We'll be able to tell you where the range you'd like to view is on display.

Our Stylist Says

I love this chair for its contemporary take on classic rattan design, bringing a playful yet sophisticated vibe to dining spaces. Its open, woven structure makes it ideal for modern interiors that embrace a light and airy feel, especially in open-plan kitchens or breakfast nooks. It works particularly well styled with minimalist or industrial themes, as its sleek metal legs complement metal or concrete accents. Practical tips include pairing it with a neutral-toned table to let the chair’s colour and texture stand out, and adding seat pads if comfort is a priority for longer meals. Overall, it’s a versatile piece that can add a pop of colour and a touch of modern craftsmanship to various dining room styles.

About John Lewis

Founded in 1864, John Lewis is a trusted and beloved brand where you can find a diverse range of furniture for every style and budget, alongside finding the perfect item that reflects your personal taste.

A Legacy of Innovation and Inclusion

John Lewis started as a small shop on London's Oxford Street in 1864. Today, it's part of a bigger family called the John Lewis Partnership, which also includes Waitrose stores.

What makes them special is that they're owned by their employees, known as 'Partners'. The idea, from the beginning, was to give everyone a say in how the business was run. With over 74,000 Partners (employees) at the heart of its operations, the essence of John Lewis's vision, from over a century ago, still echoes today being the largest employee-owned venture.

Adapting to Changing Times

Like many stores, John Lewis has had to change with the times. They've closed some shops but have grown their online business a lot, especially when more people started shopping online during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Their history is filled with key moments, like buying Peter Jones in 1905, adding Waitrose in 1937, and starting their website in 2001. They've always tried to adapt and stay relevant.

Commitment to a Greater Purpose

John Lewis believes in doing good and making the world a better place. This is seen in the way they treat their employees and customers. For example, in 2021, they were the first big UK store to give parents six months paid leave when they have a baby and two weeks paid leave if they lose a pregnancy. They've been around for over a century and always aim to do the right thing by everyone.
