Description

Design. Kartell chairs have always been among the brand’s most successful products. Chairs, armchairs and stools have the ability to express and sum up, in one object, with total simplicity, the brand’s great style, strategic elements in bringing the Kartell Lifestyle to any space. Be bop by Ludovica + Roberto Palomba is a design which blends two different languages. An armchair that combines several expressions in a single vocabulary, tracing the lines of the most traditional carved African stools and merging them with the American design of the golden years, echoing the concept of curved multilayer plywood. The result is a cultured yet wild design: it is no mere coincidence that Be bop, its name, represents the jazz movement, characterised by fast tempo and innovative harmonies. The armchair features extraordinarily ergonomic lines, with a generous curved seat to ensure maximum comfort. Be bop is available in white, grey and black for indoor and outdoor versions and with a gold metal finish in the indoor version only.

Our Stylist Says

I love this chair for its bold metallic finish and modern silhouette, which instantly adds a touch of luxe to any space. It works particularly well in contemporary interiors or eclectic settings where statement pieces are key. Practical styling tips include pairing it with neutral or muted-toned upholstery for contrast, or mixing it with other metallic accents to create a cohesive, fashionable look. Its compact size allows it to function well as an accent piece in living rooms, bedrooms, or even as a chic reading corner. Keep the surrounding decor minimal to let the gold finish truly stand out, or introduce bold colours for a more vibrant, playful vibe.

About Barker and Stonehouse

Founded in 1946, Barker and Stonehouse offer a diverse range of stylish and timeless pieces. From contemporary to traditional designs, Barker and Stonehouse brings sophistication and comfort to every room.

A Remarkable Journey

Born from the vision of two young RAF men, Charles Barker and Alex Stonehouse, Barker and Stonehouse emerged as a beacon of hope, infusing post-war Britain with a hint of glamour. Starting from a single store in Stockton on Tees, their entrepreneurial spirit led to rapid expansion, opening multiple stores across the region.

Their fast growth was fueled not only by their flair for business but also by their dedication to innovation. The business transformed over the years, adapting to the changing landscapes of retail, all while preserving its charm and values. By 2021, they marked an impressive 75 years in the industry, a testament to their enduring commitment to quality and customer service.

Sustainability at the Forefront

From the very start, Barker and Stonehouse has held a deep commitment to the environment. This devotion was showcased through initiatives such as the Trees4Trees Project, a reforestation effort in Indonesia.

Ensuring that for every tree used in their products, more than two were replanted, nearly 1.5 million trees have been restored under this initiative.

Their Knaresborough store, one of the greenest retail stores in the UK, further underscores their dedication to sustainable practices. As a cherry on top, by 2021, the company achieved the status of "Carbon Neutral Plus", making them a trailblazer in the furniture industry.

Innovative Spaces and Expanding Horizons

Over the decades, Barker and Stonehouse didn't just expand in number, but in the quality and innovation of their spaces. From opening their iconic store in Battersea, London, which beautifully preserved the characteristics of an old candle factory, to their latest state-of-the-art Gateshead store in 2023, every location tells a story.

They have also ventured into digital realms, ensuring a vast online presence and offering a wide range of products to customers all over the UK. Their partnerships, like the one with Fenwick in 2021, illustrate their adaptability and constant quest to reach new audiences.
