Description

Design. Standing the test of time, Anna Castelli Ferrieri’s Componibili was originally designed in 1967 as a versatile piece to suit any lifestyle. Gaining success, the robust, overlapping pieces form a practical and stylish stackable container, ideal for bathroom, living room and office interiors. Receiving appreciation for its innovative design, Componibili has been displayed in the Museum of Modern Art in New York and at the Centre George Pompidou in Paris.

Our Stylist Says

The black Componibili unit is a versatile piece that works well in both modern and eclectic interiors thanks to its sleek, minimalist design. I love its clean lines and practical form, making it an excellent storage solution for bedrooms, living rooms, or even home offices. It's especially good for those looking to add a contemporary edge while keeping clutter out of sight. For styling, consider pairing it with neutral or monochrome palettes to let the unit stand out, or mix it with colourful accents for a playful contrast. Its compact size makes it ideal for maximising small spaces, and the rounded, modular form invites creative arrangements-stacking or aligning it differently depending on your storage needs and aesthetic preferences.

About Barker and Stonehouse

Founded in 1946, Barker and Stonehouse offer a diverse range of stylish and timeless pieces. From contemporary to traditional designs, Barker and Stonehouse brings sophistication and comfort to every room.

A Remarkable Journey

Born from the vision of two young RAF men, Charles Barker and Alex Stonehouse, Barker and Stonehouse emerged as a beacon of hope, infusing post-war Britain with a hint of glamour. Starting from a single store in Stockton on Tees, their entrepreneurial spirit led to rapid expansion, opening multiple stores across the region.

Their fast growth was fueled not only by their flair for business but also by their dedication to innovation. The business transformed over the years, adapting to the changing landscapes of retail, all while preserving its charm and values. By 2021, they marked an impressive 75 years in the industry, a testament to their enduring commitment to quality and customer service.

Sustainability at the Forefront

From the very start, Barker and Stonehouse has held a deep commitment to the environment. This devotion was showcased through initiatives such as the Trees4Trees Project, a reforestation effort in Indonesia.

Ensuring that for every tree used in their products, more than two were replanted, nearly 1.5 million trees have been restored under this initiative.

Their Knaresborough store, one of the greenest retail stores in the UK, further underscores their dedication to sustainable practices. As a cherry on top, by 2021, the company achieved the status of "Carbon Neutral Plus", making them a trailblazer in the furniture industry.

Innovative Spaces and Expanding Horizons

Over the decades, Barker and Stonehouse didn't just expand in number, but in the quality and innovation of their spaces. From opening their iconic store in Battersea, London, which beautifully preserved the characteristics of an old candle factory, to their latest state-of-the-art Gateshead store in 2023, every location tells a story.

They have also ventured into digital realms, ensuring a vast online presence and offering a wide range of products to customers all over the UK. Their partnerships, like the one with Fenwick in 2021, illustrate their adaptability and constant quest to reach new audiences.
