Gaining success, the robust, overlapping pieces form a practical and stylish stackable container, ideal for bathroom, living room and office interiors. Receiving appreciation for its innovative design, Componibili has been displayed in the Museum of Modern Art in New York and at the Centre George Pompidou in Paris.

I often reach for the Componibili unit in silver because its cylindrical shape and glossy finish bring a slick, contemporary edge without overwhelming a scheme. It’s ideal in modern or minimalist settings - think monochrome bedrooms, Scandi-inspired studies or even a sleek bathroom for stashing toiletries.
Styling-wise, tuck it beside a bed or sofa as a compact side table and top it with a small lamp or a simple ceramic vase. Because the drawers spin open, it’s useful in tight corners and makes everyday bits (chargers, notepads, remotes) instantly accessible yet neatly hidden.

Born from the vision of two young RAF men, Charles Barker and Alex Stonehouse, Barker and Stonehouse emerged as a beacon of hope, infusing post-war Britain with a hint of glamour. Starting from a single store in Stockton on Tees, their entrepreneurial spirit led to rapid expansion, opening multiple stores across the region.
Their fast growth was fueled not only by their flair for business but also by their dedication to innovation. The business transformed over the years, adapting to the changing landscapes of retail, all while preserving its charm and values. By 2021, they marked an impressive 75 years in the industry, a testament to their enduring commitment to quality and customer service.
From the very start, Barker and Stonehouse has held a deep commitment to the environment. This devotion was showcased through initiatives such as the Trees4Trees Project, a reforestation effort in Indonesia.
Ensuring that for every tree used in their products, more than two were replanted, nearly 1.5 million trees have been restored under this initiative.
Their Knaresborough store, one of the greenest retail stores in the UK, further underscores their dedication to sustainable practices. As a cherry on top, by 2021, the company achieved the status of "Carbon Neutral Plus", making them a trailblazer in the furniture industry.
