Cheerful, chic and graphic, Marimekko's art poster collection brings new life to your home! Cover your walls with the bright colours and bold prints of the legendary Finnish fashion house. The Karhuemo ("mother bear") pattern was designed by Aino-Maija Metsola, Finnish nature-loving illustrator and designer. Passionate about colour, she designs prints with simple, poetic patterns. The Karhuemo pattern is a new take on a plant print that Aino-Maija Metsola created for Marimekko's 70th birthday. Among the flowers and leaves of the original sketch, Aino-Maija added a bear with her cub. The ground rumbles under the galloping mother bear, as the baby rises onto its hind legs to observe the land. Founded in 1951, the Marimekko company is a state of mind, an art of living based on creativity, freedom of spirit and inventiveness. Its notoriety dates back to 1960, the year in which Jackie Kennedy made several public appearances in dresses designed by Marimekko. The brand went on to enjoy enormous success, which continues today with a range of clothing and decorative accessories in vibrant colours, for a house full of inspiration!.
I love the Karhuemo poster for its bold, graphic style and vibrant colours, making it a versatile statement piece. It works particularly well in contemporary and Scandi-inspired interiors, where its lively design can add a splash of colour without overwhelming the space. Practical styling tips include displaying it in a simple frame to let the artwork stand out, or pairing it with neutral wall colours like soft greys or creams to really make the colours pop. It also pairs beautifully with minimalist furniture or natural textures, such as wood or rattan, to create a balanced, modern look. This piece is an easy way to inject personality into a room while maintaining a chic, curated aesthetic.
