A clean sweep to the angle of the arms adds flourish to the outline of our Kalmar sofa. Feather filled back and base cushions offer comforting support which, combined with the P-shaped arms and relaxed tilt to the seat, encourage a laid back perch. I’m a fan of this slate-blue herringbone three-seater because the subtle weave gives plenty of texture without overwhelming a scheme, and the turned legs and rounded arms strike a balance between traditional and contemporary. It sits equally well in a Scandi-inspired living room with pale woods and crisp whites or in a more eclectic space layered with patterned rugs and brass-toned accessories. For easy styling, add a couple of soft neutral cushions and a cosy wool throw to pick up the undertones in the fabric, then position a slim side table alongside rather than in front to keep the lines clean.
