A clean sweep to the angle of the arms adds flourish to the outline of our Kalmar sofa. Feather filled back and base cushions offer comforting support which, combined with the P-shaped arms and relaxed tilt to the seat, encourage a laid back perch. I’m a fan of this three-seater in Airforce blue stripe because it strikes a nice balance between pattern and neutrality, so it slips easily into both contemporary and coastal-inspired rooms. The wide stripes add visual interest without overwhelming, and the cotton cover is hard-wearing enough for daily use. Pair it with natural-wood side tables and neutrally toned rugs, then layer in cushions in muted terracotta or soft grey to break up the blue. In more structured spaces, a slim-legged brass lamp and a textured throw will give a refined, lived-in feel.
