Description

National Geographic book cabinet is a solid display cabinet designed by Mats Theselius for Källemo. As the name suggests, the cabinet was originally created to store a larger quantity of issues of the well-known journal National Geographic Magazine. Theselius built the original cabinet for himself to store his large collection of magazines that he had started collecting in an attempt to quit smoking. The collecting had become an obsession, and he needed to limit his collection. The solution was this storage cabinet with dimensions adapted to the journal, capable of holding an entire 25 years' worth of issues. After the cabinet was exhibited at Liljevalchs Art Gallery, Theselius refined the design, and it began to be produced by Källemo.

Our Stylist Says

The yellow bookcase with its plinth base and brass accents is a bold, statement piece that injects colour and personality into various interiors. I love how it blends playful vibrancy with functional storage, making it perfect for living rooms, kitchens, or even a bright office space. It works well in both minimalist and eclectic environments - consider pairing it with neutral tones to let the colour pop, or mixing it with other colourful accessories for a more lively look. Practical styling tips include grouping books and decorative items within the grid sections to maintain organisation, while positioning taller pieces on the lower shelves for visual balance. Overall, it’s a fun, versatile piece that can act as both storage and art in your space.
