Art Deco-era skyscraper, the Empire State Building dominates this Manhatten scene by artist Jon Barker. Mounted with a dark frame. Born in Yorkshire in 1950, Jon Barker obtained a BA in Business Studies at university in Edinburgh and pursued a career in marketing management. Over a 20-year period from his mid-20s to his mid-40s he trained himself to paint to a professional standard. At that point, he left marketing and started to sell his work. Initially, he concentrated on his love for landscape but in recent years he is increasingly associated with his successful 'City Life' series, which aims to capture the moods of major cities of the world and, often, their iconic landmarks. Have you thought about hooks and fittings?
I really like the Jon Barker print for its modern, minimal feel - it’s a versatile piece that can add a sense of urban sophistication to many interiors. Its grey and multicolour palette makes it ideal for contemporary spaces, especially those with a neutral or muted colour scheme. It works well in living rooms, offices, or hallways where you want to introduce a touch of cityscape elegance without overwhelming the decor. To style it effectively, consider pairing it with sleek black or metallic frames for a polished look, or hang it alongside other monochrome or abstract artworks to create a curated gallery wall. Its vertical orientation suits narrow spaces or can be used to add height to a feature wall, making it a flexible choice for a range of interior styles.
