Art Deco-era skyscraper, the Chrysler Building dominates this Manhatten scene by artist Jon Barker. Mounted with a dark frame. Born in Yorkshire in 1950, Jon Barker obtained a BA in Business Studies at university in Edinburgh and pursued a career in marketing management. Over a 20-year period from his mid-20s to his mid-40s he trained himself to paint to a professional standard. At that point, he left marketing and started to sell his work. Initially, he concentrated on his love for landscape but in recent years he is increasingly associated with his successful 'City Life' series, which aims to capture the moods of major cities of the world and, often, their iconic landmarks. Have you thought about hooks and fittings?
I love this Jon Barker print for its modern, understated appeal. Its grey and muted tones make it a versatile piece that works particularly well in contemporary or minimalist interiors, but it can also add a sophisticated touch to more eclectic spaces. The size is generous enough to create a focal point without overwhelming a room, making it suitable for living areas or bedrooms. For styling, consider pairing it with other monochrome or neutral accessories, and hang it at eye level for maximum impact. It’s also adaptable; it could be part of a gallery wall or displayed solo above a sofa or console table. The sleek black frame adds a contemporary finish, helping it to fit seamlessly into both urban and more traditional schemes.
