New Yorkers in silhouette cross the street beneath the Chrysler Building and other Midtown Manhattan skyscrapers in this work by artist Jon Barker. The print is glazed and framed, ready to hang on your wall. Born in Yorkshire in 1950, Jon Barker obtained a BA in Business Studies at university in Edinburgh and pursued a career in marketing management. Over a 20-year period from his mid-20s to his mid-40s he trained himself to paint to a professional standard. At that point, he left marketing and started to sell his work. Initially, he concentrated on his love for landscape but in recent years he is increasingly associated with his successful 'City Life' series, which aims to capture the moods of major cities of the world and, often, their iconic landmarks. Have you thought about wall hooks and fittings?
I really like this print for its urban charm and versatile colour palette. The grey and multi tones make it ideal for contemporary interiors, especially those with a neutral or monochrome scheme, providing a focal point without overwhelming the space. It works well in living rooms, offices, or hallways where a hint of city life adds character. Practical styling tips include pairing it with sleek, minimalist furniture to keep the focus on the artwork, or layering it with other cityscape or abstract pieces for an eclectic look. Its size makes it suitable for above sofas or consoles, and the frame’s clean design enhances its modern appeal. Overall, it’s a stylish choice that can effortlessly elevate a city-inspired or modern interior.
