Description

Created for us by Danish design duo Says Who, renowned for compelling details and expert woodworking, this sideboard is built for your contemporary home. Taking its cues from Scandi-inspired design, this large sideboard is made from solid and veneered oak with a soft-edge finish on the frame and robust y-shaped legs. We love the finish of oak and its unique patterns and grains which will add a natural warmth to your space. Inside each cupboard section is an organised interior with adjustable shelving, so there's plenty of room for your essentials. Want to see it first? You may want to see and get a feel for the furniture in one of our shops before ordering. We'll be able to tell you where the range you'd like to view is on display.

Our Stylist Says

I’ve been using the John Lewis “X-Ray” sideboard in oak for a few shoots now and its clean lines and solid oak finish make it a really versatile piece. It sits equally well in Scandi-inspired living rooms, Japandi schemes or pared-back urban flats, thanks to its subtle recessed handles and elevated legs that give a light, airy feel. Styling-wise, keep the top surface uncluttered: a low-profile vase, a framed print leaned against the wall and a small stack of design books work nicely. Inside, use uniform storage boxes or matching ceramic jars to corral everyday items, and consider a smoked-glass lamp or matte-black metal tray for a touch of contrast.

About John Lewis

Founded in 1864, John Lewis is a trusted and beloved brand where you can find a diverse range of furniture for every style and budget, alongside finding the perfect item that reflects your personal taste.

A Legacy of Innovation and Inclusion

John Lewis started as a small shop on London's Oxford Street in 1864. Today, it's part of a bigger family called the John Lewis Partnership, which also includes Waitrose stores.

What makes them special is that they're owned by their employees, known as 'Partners'. The idea, from the beginning, was to give everyone a say in how the business was run. With over 74,000 Partners (employees) at the heart of its operations, the essence of John Lewis's vision, from over a century ago, still echoes today being the largest employee-owned venture.

Adapting to Changing Times

Like many stores, John Lewis has had to change with the times. They've closed some shops but have grown their online business a lot, especially when more people started shopping online during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Their history is filled with key moments, like buying Peter Jones in 1905, adding Waitrose in 1937, and starting their website in 2001. They've always tried to adapt and stay relevant.

Commitment to a Greater Purpose

John Lewis believes in doing good and making the world a better place. This is seen in the way they treat their employees and customers. For example, in 2021, they were the first big UK store to give parents six months paid leave when they have a baby and two weeks paid leave if they lose a pregnancy. They've been around for over a century and always aim to do the right thing by everyone.
