Description
Three whitewashed cottages stand sentry, alone except for the seagulls bobbing in the deep green shallows under moody skies. Ulyana Hammond creates a compelling sense of distance and depth through artful use of colour, contrast, raised image and shadow. Raised image, framed with a mount and glazed. Ulyana Hammond was born in 1981 in St Petersburg, one of the most beautiful cities in Russia, known for its outstanding architecture. These wonderful surroundings were a great source of inspiration to her as she grew up to appreciate the historical riches around her. While studying traditional art and sculpture at university, Ulyana spent many hours sketching and perfecting her art, discovering this rewarding outlet for her passion of painting contrasting shape and colours. Returning to St Peterburg to see family, the trip brought all her childhood memories flooding back. This beautiful city continues to influence her work. John Lewis believes in doing good and making the world a better place. This is seen in the way they treat their employees and customers. For example, in 2021, they were the first big UK store to give parents six months paid leave when they have a baby and two weeks paid leave if they lose a pregnancy. They've been around for over a century and always aim to do the right thing by everyone.
